DC-88 'Scaramouche'

The Scaramouche is essentially to the world of Pirate Gears what the A-10 Warthog is to the world of ground attack aircraft. Heavily armored, the DC-88 Mobile Theatre Defense System is designed to sacrifice mobility in favor of armor and sheer firepower.

Featuring a primary armament of four GAU-30 "Holocaust" chainguns, each requiring so much horsepower that a pair on either side is powered by its own high-powered electric motor and a two-stage gearbox, the Scaramouche is designed to continue putting over 80 rounds into the air per SECOND... and to keep firing as long as at least one gun is operational. This, coupled with its high turn speed (which can be bolstered by turning the chassis in the same direction), this particular Pirate Gear can track and engage any moving or stationary target, ground or air, with exceptionally aggressive point defense.

A pair of turreted rocket pods on the front of the turret provides some defense capacity against mobile armor and vehicles; making the Scaramouche unique in that it is one of the few Pirate Gears that depends on automatic guns as its primary weapons and its heavy weapons for self-defense.

While the the Scaramouche is durable and highly mobile, it suffers from low ammunition capacity and an inability to defend itself against infantry and anti-armor squadrons. As such, it is often restricted to use near base camps as anti-air units or as the last line of defense should the headquarters' perimeter collapse.
